**Iker** is a wild mustang hailing from the rugged area of Sundre, Alberta. Around 3 years old, this small yet sturdy gelding is known for his curious and friendly nature. Gentle and quiet, Iker thrives on trail rides where he can take in the sights at a leisurely pace. While he may not be the star of the arena, his love for slow rides and the attention he receives make him a beloved companion.

Everyone meet Icon: This little man has been such pleasure to work with. He has the biggest heart, no quit, is curious, loves cuddles, is the best trail horse and learns fast. If you give him time and you are specific, he can figure out new things incredibly quickly and can be really solid in no time.

Icon trusts his person like no other. He wants to be with you, follows you anywhere like a puppy dog and lets you get him out of trouble if you asked for too much (LOL). If you are looking for your once in a lifetime heart horse, Icon is your man.

Icon is good with the farrier, great in the hills, we check cows, road along roads with lots of traffic, went to different places and he adapted great to everything. Doesn`t matter if alone or with a friend, the only one he needs is you.

His steering gets better every day, we are still slow but we can move the shoulders and hip in any direction, so if you want to continue to put some fancy buttons on him, he has a solid foundation.

He only ever tried to buck once with me and I disengaged and it never crossed his mind again. I have done a lot of silly and fun things with him to get him prepared for life.

One day, these horses will make amazing kids horses because of their safe and steady temperament, but I wish for him to go to a home that is willing to keep working with him so that you guys will have the same relationship as him and I.

Love him as much as I do and you will never find a better partner!

Adoption Application

WHOAS has an adoption application that will allow us to assure that wild horses that are available for adoption will go to suitable homes. The individuals adopting horses by filling out the application will show that they have the proper facilities and knowledge of horses to provide a forever loving home.

All interested parties should contact us to arrange a time to come and visit the horses at our rescue/handling facility which is west of Sundre, AB. Here you will have an opportunity to learn about our gentling techniques in order that there will be a safe transition to their new homes.

Why do you want to adopt a wild horse? What age and sex of wild horse would you be able to adopt?

Tell us about your circumstances: Do you now own any other horses? How much land do you have? Is there shelter, access to water and feed? Please include your Premise Identification Number (PIN).

Adopting a wild horse is a huge commitment. Do you have the time, finances and skill to work with and maintain a horse? You must be able to spend consistent, extensive time with your horse. Can you commit to care for your horse for its lifetime?

How would you rate your horse expertise and knowledge? Are you able to train your horse, or do you have a trainer whom you trust to work with you and your horse? If you have previous horse experiences, please provide a brief summary.

Describe the types of fences and paddocks you currently have for housing your horses, including where you will be housing your wild horse. Please send us a photograph to WHOASalberta@gmail.com.

Please provide us with any additional information you feel may help WHOAS in approving your application. Any information you provide will remain confidential.

Horses adopted from WHOAS are released on condition that they never be sold at auction or for slaughter. All male horses will be gelded before they leave WHOAS premises.
