May’s 2022 Adoptables

So happy to announce that the response to adopt the wild horses in our care has been overwhelming and all of the horses have new homes to go to.

I’M ADOPTED

Meet Enoch who is about 5 years old. He is a sturdy gelding who has progressed extremely well with his gentling process. He shows great promise and is ready for a new, caring and loving home. It is extremely important for these horses that those individuals wishing to adopt have good horse knowledge. The biggest issue to overcome is gaining the trust of these wonderful intelligent horses. Once this trust is gained and the bond is made they make exceptional partners and progress quickly in their training.

These Alberta Mountain Horses (wildies) are surefooted, have great common sense and make great trail horses. Their new owners will find that they need patience and time to progress in whatever discipline they choose for them.

I’M ADOPTED

This is Howdy, who is a 2-year old boy. He will be gelded, vaccinated and freeze-branded at the end of May. He has put on weight since his arrival and doing extremely well with our WHOAS volunteers handling of him. By mid-June he will be ready for his new home.

I’M ADOPTED

This beauty is Hank who is 4 years old. and he has been adopted. He has been at our rescue/handling site for a couple of months and will be going to spend his future at an Alberta trail riding ranch in southern Alberta. He is also waiting to be gelded and will move to his new home shortly thereafter. For WHOAS is so great that the horses we rescue have such a wonderful new life ahead of them.

I’M ADOPTED

Meet Hudson a 2-year old boy who has been recently rescued. We have his story and his two friends on the latest post. The gentling process with him is just beginning but he has been allowed time to settle in to all the new things in his life he sees at the site. He will soon also be gelded, vaccinated and freeze-branded, a requirement by the government. He has an interested family considering him for adoption.

I’M ADOPTED

We have named this fellow, Houston. He is a 3-4 year old and he is scheduled for gelding along with the rest by the end of the month. Again we have individuals who have shown an interest in adopting this boy.

I’M ADOPTED

Hapaco is a beautiful roan boy, and is 4-years old. He was just rescued a short time ago and is settling into his new environment. He may have a new owner already, just waiting for a solid commitment. Along with the other boys, he will be gelded at the end of the month.

We encourage all interested persons to arrange a visit to meet the horses to see if they would be a good fit at their potential new home. We require submission of our adoption application which can be found at the top of our web page. Please contact us at WHOASalberta@gmail.com
