Wild Horses of Alberta Society’s mission is to ensure the provision of all aspects of the conservation and humane treatment of wild horses in Alberta. We are committed to the preservation of these magnificent animals in their natural environment.
WHOAS Objectives (Purposes)
- To protect the environment by working with the government to establish reasonable and achievable wild horse population management solutions.
- To provide a public amenity by maintaining a proper rescue and handling facility that is safe for the public to attend to witness first-hand wild horses.
- To promote the welfare of wild horses by rescuing, gentling and rehoming of wild horses providing veterinary care, and by operating a wild horse adoption program.
- To advance education by providing presentations and workshops on the history of wild horses in Alberta.
- To advance education by participating in research by collecting data to support scientific research that will add to overall public understanding and increasing knowledge to the scientific community.
- To undertake activities ancillary and incidental to the attainment of the above-mentioned charitable purposes.

I AM A 66 YEAR OLD COWBOY AND BROKE SOME OF THE WILDIES FROM THE SUFFIELD RANGE. THINK YOU GUYS ARE DOIN A WONDERFUL JOB. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. WOULD HAVE ADOPTED SOME OF YOUR COLTS BUT HAD TO SEEL MY RANCH A FEW YEARS AGO BECAUSE OF HEALTH PROBLEMS WITH MY WIFE.

This is a great website – lots of information. Thank you to everyone involved with the WHOAS for the work you are doing to protect and manage the wild horse herds of Alberta. It must be a big commitment but, no doubt, very rewarding as well.

I am a pensioner living in England. I have always loved horses but unfortunately never been able to own one. I discovered your FB page by accident and now follow it avidly to get news of the wild horses. I admire your work so much and support your excellent mission statement 100%. I hope you will be able to continue your vital work-for many years to come.

For a little over twenty years I was blessed to roam around Alberta witnessing the lives of many wild horses being free. I’m relieved and grateful to learn there are people contributing to the well being of them. May you all continue to prosper in your mission. Take care.
